While Campylobacter jejuni is often found in poultry products, most Campylobacter cases are sporadic and are never traced back to a specific food or beverage; however, raw, or unpasteurized, milk has emerged as a common vehicle for Campylobacter outbreaks in recent years. Municipal water and raw clams have also been associated with Campylobacter outbreaks.
Historically, few foods have been recalled due to the presence of Campylobacter bacteria. Raw milk (milk that has not been pasteurized) has occasionally been recalled for Campylobacter contamination.
