The outbreak sparked Wegman's to recall 5,000 pounds of the pine nuts, which were manufactured and sold by Delaware-based America Pistachio Commodities Corp. which does business as "Sunrise Commodities".
Marler Clark filed four Rochester, NY-area lawsuits on behalf of Salmonella victims who consumed Turkish pine nuts. The first on behalf of a college student hospitalized as a result of his illness, and the second on behalf of a mother and daughter who both were made ill after consuming pine nuts. On November 28, 2011, a third was filed on behalf of mother and her young daughter who were both made ill. On December 19, 2011, another mother and daughter filed suit after both became ill with Salmonella infections.
