During its investigation into the Salmonella outbreak, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced that it had received 770 reports of illness associated with the Pars Cove booth by July 27. The number of confirmed Salmonella cases at that time had reached 158, with 132 of those confirmed identified as Salmonella Heidelberg. Thirty-seven people had been hospitalized.
CDPH identified hummus shirazi, a fresh herb tomato cucumber salad over a bed of hummus, as the source of the Salmonella outbreak. The Salmonella lawyers at Marler Clark, along with co-counsel Gary Newland of the Chicago-land firm Newland, Newland, and Newland, filed multiple lawsuits on behalf of their clients in the Pars Cove outbreak. The claims have been resolved.
