OrganicLife School Lunch Salmonella Outbreak Lawsuit

Marler Clark filed a Salmonella lawsuit against OrganicLife, a school foodservice provider whose food was identified as the source of a Salmonella outbreak among students at 6 different Chicago-area private schools in September and October of 2012. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a 5th grader who became ill with a Salmonella infection and was hospitalized for several days after purchasing school lunch supplied by OrganicLife.

According to public health officials, multiple critical food safety violations were noted at the Organic Life facility after it was identified as a possible source of the Salmonella outbreak. Public health investigators later determined that an infected food handler was the likely source of the Salmonella outbreak and contaminated food through poor personal hygiene--a critical violation.
