As of May 27, 263 people reported having symptoms of Salmonella infection after eating at Old South. At least fifty people were hospitalized with Salmonella infections, and one man died from cardiac arrhythmia after suffering from complications related to Salmonella poisoning.
Marler Clark filed a Salmonella lawsuit against Old South on June 1, 2005. The firm has since resolved the claims of several people who became ill with Salmonella infections after eating at Old South.
