Metabolic Meals Salmonella Outbreak – What you need to know.

Meals has resulted in 16 reported illnesses and 7 hospitalizations across 10 states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced the outbreak on September 5, 2025, and is advising consumers to throw away affected products.

Affected products

The outbreak is linked to meals delivered the week of July 28, 2025. The CDC has identified specific meals, lot codes, and best-by dates, including Four Cheese Tortellini with Pesto Sauce & Grilled Chicken (Lot Code: 25199, Best By: 08/07/2025), Low Carb Chicken Teriyaki & Vegetables (Lot Code: 25202, Best By: 08/05/2025), Black Garlic & Ranch Chicken Tenders with Roasted Vegetables (Lot Code: 25205, Best By: 08/08/2025), Sliced Top Sirloin with Roasted Peanut Sauce & Summer Vegetables (Lot Code: 25203, Best By: 08/06/2025), and additional Lot Code 25204.

Scope of the outbreak

As of early September 2025, 16 cases have been reported across 10 states. Seven people have been hospitalized. The affected states include Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. The actual number of illnesses is likely higher due to underreporting and the time it takes to link cases to an outbreak.

What to do

The CDC advises consumers with affected products to discard them immediately and to clean and sanitize any surfaces that the meals or packaging may have touched. Metabolic Meals has contacted customers who purchased the affected products and is cooperating with investigators.

Salmonella symptoms

If you have consumed the affected meals and feel unwell, contact your healthcare provider. Symptoms of a Salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. Seek immediate medical attention for severe symptoms like diarrhea with a fever over 102°F, diarrhea lasting over three days or being bloody, excessive vomiting, or signs of dehydration.
