The New Hampshire Bureau of Communicable Disease Control announced on September 10, 2013 that Joey's Jerky brand Chicken Jerky was being recalled due to possible Salmonella risk after 21 Salmonella cases among humans had been reported in Merrimack and Hillsborough Counties in New Hampshire.
According to a press release, the Salmonella-contaminated chicken jerky dog treats were distributed by New Hampshire-based Kritter's Kitchen Kreations, LLC, which initiated a voluntary recall of the product. The Joey's Jerky was sold at the following stores: America’s Pet in Hudson, Blue Seal in Bow, K9 Kaos in Dover, Osborne’s Agway in Concord, Sandy’s Pet Food Center in Concord, and The Yellow Dogs Barn in Barrington.
