In mid-June of 2013, the Harris County Health Department traced over a dozen Salmonella cases to the Iguana Joe's restaurant in Humble, Texas. Several cases were children, and many outbreak victims had eaten at the restaurant on Father's Day before becoming ill with Salmonella infections.
Iguana Joe's was temporarily shut down after multiple health inspections revealed dozens of food handling errors and other health violations that could have contributed to the Salmonella outbreak.
