The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention counted victims of the Salmonella outbreak from 15 states; the majority of cases were reported in California, but Salmonella cases were also counted in Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Texas, Washington state and Wisconsin. At least 25 victims of the Salmonella outbreak were hospitalized due to the severity of their illness.
According to a press release, on September 13, 2012, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration placed Agricola Daniella on Import Alert. Agricola Daniella mangoes will be denied admission into the United States unless the importer shows the mangoes are not contaminated with Salmonella.
