Chamberlain Farms Cantaloupe Salmonella Outbreak Lawsuits

At least 270 people nationwide, including 101 who were hospitalized and 3 who died, were part of a Salmonella outbreak in July and August of 2012. Public health officials linked the Salmonella outbreak to cantaloupes grown in by Chamberlain Farms Produce, Inc. of Owensville, Indiana.

The Marler Clark attorneys filed the first lawsuit associated with the Salmonella outbreak on on August 22, hours before the name of the cantaloupe farm was released. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a Michigan mother whose children fell ill with Salmonella infections after eating Chamberlain Farms cantaloupes. After the farm's name was released in association with the outbreak, Marler Clark filed an amended complaint to add the Chamberlain Farms as a defendant. The attorneys later filed 2 additional Salmonella lawsuits against Chamberlain Farms. All claims have been resolved.
