Cargill Ground Turkey Salmonella Outbreak Lawsuits

Marler Clark's Salmonella attorneys are representing victims of the 2011 Cargill ground turkey Salmonella Heidelberg outbreak traced to 136 Salmonella infections and one death. Cases of antibiotic-resistant Salmonella Heidelberg associated with the Cargill ground turkey were reported in 34 states.

On July 29, 2011, Cargill instituted the second largest food recall in U.S. history when it recalled 36 million pounds of ground turkey for potential Salmonella Heidelberg contamination.

On August 16, Marler Clark filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Portland, Oregon on behalf of a 10-month-old Oregon child who was hospitalized after consuming cooked ground turkey produced and distributed by Cargill. The law firm filed a second lawsuit against Cargill on August 25 on behalf of a Missouri woman who was also hospitalized. These cases, as well as the claims of additional people represented by Marler Clark, have been resolved.
