An investigation by the Hennepin County Health Department revealed that chilled carrot soup served at Café Barbette was the source of the Salmonella outbreak. Among other things, the health officials determined that at least 29 people had fallen ill after eating at Café Barbette. Many outbreak victims required emergency medical attention, and at least one was hospitalized as a result of illness.
