The restaurant closed on July 25, 2009, after at least 20 people reported symptoms of Salmonella infection after eating food prepared at the restaurant on July 9, 10 and 11, 2009. Customers who ate their food at the restaurant and at a family reunion catered by A & R Bar-be-que reported illness. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a father and son who both became ill with Salmonella infections and were hospitalized with acute kidney failure after eating Salmonella-contaminated food purchased from the restaurant in mid-July.
