Ontario Food Protection Association - April 2023

The Ontario Protection Association held a conference in Scarborough, Ontario, with representatives from industry and government involved in food safety. Foodborne illness attorney Bill Marler was the keynote speaker, presenting on how these professionals can play an important role in helping to prevent foodborne illness events. In addition, he discussed what happens in the aftermath of a foodborne illness outbreak and how his clients have been impacted personally by these events. He provided examples of companies failing to utilize safe food practices and the resultant illnesses and deaths that have occurred. Lastly, he encouraged diligence in food safety regulations and practices as an imperative to help prevent outbreaks and lawsuits.
