Food Safety Education Conference (2010)
Patti Waller was on a panel addressing "Appropriate Public Health Response to Foodborne Illness"
Public health response to foodborne illness varies greatly in the United States. Organizational structure, funding, and priorities contribute to differences in how health departments investigate foodborne illness. Public perception of appropriate agency response can differ by individual circumstances, often conflicting with basic principles of public health. Panelists will discuss various perspectives and suggest ways to improve public health response to foodborne illness investigations.
