Ukrop's grocery has voluntarily recalled some ground beef because of potential E. coli bacterial contamination, according to a notice on its Web page. The chain has several stores in Virginia, including Williamsburg.Seven cases of E. coli have been confirmed in Minnesota. That state's Department of Health is investigating ground beef purchased at one retail chain as the potential link among all cases. As a result of the investigation, PM Beef Holdings - the chain's supplier of ground beef - is voluntarily recalling potentially affected product because of possible contamination with E. coli O157:H7.Ukrop's hasn't been notified of any E. coli cases in Virginia associated with ground beef. However, the grocer received ground beef from the same supplier as the affected chain in Minnesota. On Thursday morning, Ukrop's took proactive measures by removing all potentially affected products. According to Ukrop's notice, the recalled beef includes:Fresh ground beef with the Ukrop's All-Natural and Steakhouse Premium Angus labels and with sell-by dates of April 14 through May 12, 2007.Ground beef patties, including seasoned burgers, with the Ukrop's All-Natural and Steakhouse Premium Angus labels and with sell-by dates of April 14 through May 12, 2007. Frozen Ukrop's All-Natural beef patties with production codes 7096 through 7124. Customers may return recalled product to any Ukrop's location for a full refund. In addition, customers who think that they might have potentially affected product - but have removed it from its original packaging before placing it in a freezer - may return that product, as well. A receipt isn't required to obtain a refund.
