Rose Acre Farms Egg Salmonella Outbreak
The CDC is investigating a multi-state outbreak linked to Rose Acre Farms shell eggs. To date, 23 people have been infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Braenderup. Of the 23 sickened, six have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported. The illnesses range across 9 states: Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
On April 13, 2018, Rose Acre Farms of Seymour, Indiana voluntarily recalled 206,749,248 shell eggs sold under the brand names of Coburn Farms, Country Daybreak, Crystal Farms, Food Lion, Glenview, Great Value, Nelms, and Sunshine Farms. The eggs can be identified by the plant number P-1065 and the Julian date range of 011-102.
The investigation is ongoing.
Symptoms of salmonella include:
· Abdominal cramps
· Fever of 100-102 F
· Bloody diarrhea
· Body aches
