The Pennsylvania Departments of Health and Agriculture announced on May 29, 2013 that Campylobacter illnesses had been linked to the consumption of raw milk produced by The Family Cow dairy in Chambersburg, PA.
Samples of raw milk collected from the dairy on May 17 tested positive for Campylobacter. The raw milk was sold under The Family Cow label in plastic gallon, half-gallon, quart and pint containers and is labeled "raw milk".
According to a press release, the dairy sells its raw milk products directly to consumers in an on-farm retail store, at drop-off locations and at retail stores around Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley, as well as in south-central Pennsylvania. The Family Cow has been ordered to stop the sale of all raw milk until further notice.
