The family of a 78-year-old man whose death may be linked to the widespread peanut butter salmonella outbreak has sued an Ohio company in connection with his death.
The family of Clifford Tousignant filed the lawsuit against Kanan Enterprises, owner of the King Nut peanut butter brand, on Monday in U.S. District Court in Minnesota.
The lawsuit was filed by Marler Clark -- a Seattle-based law firm specializing in foodborne illnesses -- and Minneapolis-based Jardine, Logan & O'Brien.
According to the complaint, the Brainerdman consumed peanut butter while in a nursing home in December.
The complaint says he tested positive for salmonella and died on Jan. 12.
Kanan Enterprises did not immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.
