French Broad Farm Raw Milk E. coli Outbreak

Tennessee health officials have announced an E. coli O157:H7 outbreak linked to raw milk from French Broad Farm in Mascot, TN. Dr. Joe Childs of East Tennessee Children's Hospital reported that the hospital is approaching 10 cases. At least four people have HUS a complication of E. coli resulting in kidney failure.

Knox County has issued a public warning advising consumers to throw away all raw milk and unpasteurized products from the farm.

Symptoms of E. coli include:

· Severe abdominal cramping

· Loss of appetite

· Diarrhea (often bloody)

· Fatigue

· Fever
