Colorado Red Robin E. coli Outbreak
On July 11, 2019, Colorado health officials announced an E. coli O157 outbreak linked to the Red Robin restaurant located at 799 E. 146th Ave in Westminster, Colorado. To date, three individuals have tested positive for E. coli O157. Two of the three individuals infected were hospitalized.
On July 9th, the Trip-County Health Department inspected the restaurant after receiving outbreak information from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The inspection found several food safety violations and the restaurant voluntarily closed on July 10th. The investigation is still ongoing.
Symptoms of E. coli include:
· Severe abdominal cramping
· Loss of appetite
· Diarrhea (often bloody)
