This is a new outbreak and this investigation is separate from previous outbreaks of [*Salmonella* Newport & Kentucky](https://www.fda.gov/food/outbreaks-foodborne-illness/outbreak-investigation-extensively-drug-resistant-salmonella-moringa-powder-february-2026) and [*Salmonella* Typhimurium & Newport](https://www.fda.gov/food/outbreaks-foodborne-illness/outbreak-investigation-salmonella-moringa-leaf-powder-january-2026) that were both linked to moringa powder. Based on epidemiological information collected by CDC, a total of 18 people infected with the outbreak strain of *Salmonella* have been reported from 14 states. Illnesses started on dates ranging from February 3, 2026, to April 7, 2026. Of the eight people interviewed, six (75%) reported eating moringa powder capsules, including four who reported MOGO-brand moringa powder capsules. There have been 7 hospitalizations, and no deaths have been reported. ![](https://holistic-kudu.transforms.svdcdn.com/production/MoringaCapsules_CDC-Case-Count-Map_May2026.jpeg?w=867&h=595&auto=compress%2Cformat&fit=crop&dm=1779919950&s=90c1b4e6f52cf557adeda4d5a7251603)On May 25, 2026, MOGO Moringa LLC [recalled](https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/mogo-moringa-llc-announces-voluntary-recall-select-lots-moringa-capsules-due-possible-salmonella) lot #15525AA EXP 6/2027 and lot #00926AA EXP 1/2028 of MOGO-brand Pure Moringa Oleifera capsules. Consumers and retailers who purchased recalled MOGO-brand moringa powder capsules should not eat, sell, or further distribute this product and should throw it away. Consumers who purchased recalled products are encouraged to visit the [company’s official recall information page](https://www.mogomoringa.com/pages/moringa-capsule-recall-information). FDA is conducting a traceback investigation to determine a source of contamination and is working with state partners to collect samples. FDA will update this advisory with new information as it becomes available.
